This week we're welcoming Garin to the Barber's Den Melrose team.
How long have you been a barber?
What kind of training and experience have you had?
I have had various hands-on training but one that has really stuck with me is a course I took with a group of barbers from London. I've also done some classes with the owner of my shop and one of the more advanced guys. Working alongside great, helpful barbers is a huge help to getting up to speed quickly.
What's your favorite haircut to give and why?
I love doing longer men’s cuts. Especially cuts with a tapered back and sideburn. I had long hair once and I know the struggle. If I'd had a barber like myself around then to cut it and tell me how to treat it and style it I’d probably still have it long.
What's your favorite type of client?
I love the gentleman that walk in who haven’t cut their hair in months and want something different. I like talking to them to see what they want out of their hair and what they don’t like. And I love seeing their reaction after I’m done.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
Boston is one of my favorite places on earth. Any chance I get to go downtown and experience a new restaurant or store, I take. I love walking around the city to see what’s new.
What's your dream place to give a haircut?
Paris, preferably a small shop, in a nice suit... and add a view of the Eiffel Tower.
What's your favorite thing to talk about with your client?
New restaurants, food, travel, and movies.
